Best Eco Home

This category is for self build homes that have been designed and constructed to be as sustainable and energy efficient as possible. We welcome entrants from a variety of build systems including ICF, straw bale, SIPs and thin joint masonry, to name but a few, and anyone may enter. Judges will look at overall design, innovation, materials usage and how the homeowners’ needs have been addressed, with a specific focus on areas such as energy performance, carbon emissions and embodied carbon. Projects should be owner-commissioned private houses.

Entries should include:

• Pictures of the interior and exterior of the finished home
• A clear set of floorplans and elevation drawings
• A detailed description of the project
• Reference from the homeowner
• Supporting reports and data regarding energy and carbon performance will be beneficial
• Any other information as detailed in the Entry Form and T&Cs
